Vickie Yates Brown, JD, President and CEO
Vickie Yates Brown is an attorney with extensive experience in health care law and finance, specializing in privacy, security, and technology transfer. She has worked closely with the University of Louisville Foundation and President James Ramsey planning development, building partnerships and securing Tax Increment Finance (TIF) funding for Nucleus. She was named president and CEO of Nucleus in the spring of 2008.

Vickie Yates Brown is an experienced leader in health and sciences law and business. Currently, Brown serves as the Chair of the Health and Life Sciences Practice group at Frost Brown Todd. She is the chairwoman of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association. She is Vice Chair of the Health Enterprises Network. And, she sits on the editorial board of the BNA Health Law Reporter.

Vickie Yates Brown has served on the Advisory Council for the Human Genome Project and National Institute of Diabetes, Digestion and Kidney Disease as part of the National Institutes of Health. She has delivered numerous national and international presentations and co-authored three publications on health care law and government regulation.



Gordon Duke, COO
Gordon Duke has more than 30 years of experience in financial administration, economic development and real estate development and management. He brings a wealth of expertise in state government finance and private sector real estate development and management to Nucleus, where he will help manage the Tax Increment Finance (TIF) program and partner with other state and local economic development programs to help maximize the financial resources Nucleus needs to carry out its missions and goals.

Gordon Duke will also work with the president and board on Nucleus’ ongoing business planning to recruit new business to the Haymarket and will serve as a liaison between Nucleus and Kentucky State Government agencies.



Chad Stiening, PhD, Executive Director for New Business Development
Chad Stiening was originally recruited to Louisville from the University of Arizona to join the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute in May of 2007, where he served as Chief of Translational Research Advancement, and as a Research Scientist in the Cardiovascular Therapeutics Division. Dr. Stiening brings a valuable combination of education and experience that uniquely positions him at the intersection of science and business, academia and industry, research and commercialization. Dr. Stiening holds degrees in Biology and Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Arizona, where he also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Biomedical Engineering. He also previously worked for Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri.

At Nucleus, he will work closely with partners like Greater Louisville Inc., EnterpriseCorp, MetaCyte, and the University of Louisville’s Office of Technology Transfer to connect University researchers and emerging technologies with the business community and private sector in order to create, as well as recruit, health and life sciences companies in Louisville.
